MRP mandatory from Nov 24

All travellers will need to carry only Machine Readable Passports (MRP) from November 24 as manual passport (hand written) will not be acceptable to any airport, according to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting Wednesday with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon in the chair, a news agency report said.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister`s Office M Abul Kalam Azad, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Khorshed Alam Chowdhury and officials of foreign ministry and department of passport and immigration.

The meeting advised all expatriates Bangladeshi nationals to collect Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) while travelling because they will face trouble with the hand written passport.
