18 rescued from human traffickers

Eighteen Bangladeshi nationals have been rescued from Putkhali and Gotipara border areas of Benapole in Jessore on Sunday night while they were being trafficked to India.

Nayek Subedar Tofail Ahmed of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) battalion-21 confirmed the matter.

He said on information, a team of the border guards conducted a drive in the areas and rescued them.

Sensing the presence of the BGB members, the members of the human trafficking gang fled the scene.

Later, the trafficking victims were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
