UP chairman aspirant gunned down

A chairman aspirant of upcoming union parishad election was gunned down at Gyalenga union council of Ruma upazila in Bandarban district early on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Shanti Tripura, also a member of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-charge of Ruma Police Station Shariful Islam said a gang of miscreants picked up Shanti from his house and took him to Adika Para at about 3:30 am.

Later, the criminals shot him and fled the scene, leaving him dead on the spot.
