SC for disposing of Ekram murder trial in 4 months
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday ordered the concerned trial court to dispose of the case filed over sensational murder of Fulgazi Awami League leader and upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram, within four months.
The apex court also upheld a stay on Feni BNP leader Minar Chowdhury's bail in the case.
A five-member Appellate Division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah passed the order this morning.
Chamber judge court of the Appellate Division on October 30 stayed Minar's bail for four weeks and sent the matter to the apex court full bench.
Ekram was gunned down inside his car in broad daylight on Academy Road, near Bilashi Cinema Hall, Feni on May 20 in 2014. Later, his car along with its passenger was torched by the assailants.
Ekram's family on that very day lodged the case against 35, with Miar as the prime suspect with Feni Sadar Police Station.
