Dhaka WASA asked to recover its 13 canals

The tasKforce today asked the authorities concerned of Dhaka WASA to take necessary measures to recover its 13 canals from illegal occupations.

The directive came from the 36th meeting of the taskforce with its president and also Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan in the chair in his ministry office, according to a news agency.

It also asked for taking effective measures to stop reoccupation and refilling up of the canals. The meeting also decided to conduct survey in locating river boundaries alongside with setting up boundary pillars and reinstalling the pillars against those objections have been lodged to end the occupation of the riverbanks.

It recommended effective measures against the factories without Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) beside the rivers to prevent more water pollution. The meeting decided to conduct drive to evict the illegal occupants of the river Buriganga.
