baby shot in womb operated succesfully
Surgeons of Dhaka Medical College Hospital have successfully operated the new born baby that got shot in its mother’s womb in Magura on 23rd .
A board of surgeons, led by Dr. Kaniz Hasina, associate professor in the infant surgery department, conducted the operation on the baby’s chest, throat and other wounds on Wednesday morning. The seven-day old baby needed 21 stitches in its wounds.
Dr. Kaniz on an exclusive interview with Jagonews said the operation was successful. The baby needs mother’s breast now. But as Nazma Begum, mother of baby, had also been shot and is severely injured, the doctors are looking for a midwife mother to save the baby, she added.
Earlier on July 23, Nazma Begum got shot in her abdomen in a gunfight between two groups of local Jubo League cadres at Duaripara in Magura district. She was admitted to Magura general hospital only to find the unborn baby in her womb is also been shot by the bullet.
Nazma gave birth to the baby girl and transferred to DMC for further treatment later.
