Over 3.59 lakh govt posts vacant, minister tells JS

Some 3,59,261 posts have been lying vacant with different ministries, State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique told parliament today.

"Yes, necessary steps have been taken to fill up the vacant posts," she said while responding to a starred question from treasury bench member Md Morshed Alam(Noakhali-2) on behalf of Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, according to a news agency.

Replying to another question from Golam Dastagir Gazi (Narayangang -1), Ismat Ara said of the total number vacant posts, 48,246 are class one (grade 1-9) officers, 54294 are class two (grade10-12), 182737 are class three (Grade13-17) and 73984 are class four (Grade 18- 20).

Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam told independent lawmaker Md Rustam Ali Farazi (Pirojepur-3) that the government has no plan for raising the age of entering government job to 35.
