BNP’s chairperson adviser and former deputy speaker of the parliament Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui died on Sunday. He was 71.

He breathed his last at the United Hospital at 12.15pm in the capital’s Gulshan area, said BNP’s chairperson wing media official Shayrul Kabir Khan.

He left behind his wife, two sons and one daughter, and relatives to mourn his death.

The first namaz-e-janaza of the former deputy speaker will be held at 5:30pm in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.

His second namaz-e-janaza will be held at Jatiya Sangsad premises at 10am on Monday. Later he will be buried in Naogaon.
