SpiceJet aircraft catches fire at HSIA
An aircraft of Indian SpiceJet airline caught fire at its nose wheel while taxing for taking off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) today.
After witnessing smoke coming from the nose wheel of the Kolkata bound aircraft, the standby fire unit of the airport immediately rushed to the spot and dodged the fire, BSS reported.
All the 74 passengers, pilots, and crews were evacuated safely after the incident took place at around 10.30 am, HSIA official source said.
It said the aircraft is now under repairing and flight operation is normal at the airport.
SpiceJet is a low-cost airline headquartered in Gurgaon, India. It is the third largest airline of India by number of passengers carried.
