Language movement hero Muhammad Takiullah dies
Language movement veteran and son of legendary linguist Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah, Muhammad Takiullah died at a city hospital this morning.
He was 91.
Takiullah, who was put on life support for the last few days, breathed his last in the city's Square Hospital at 11.10 this morning, family and hospital sources said, BSS reported.
He left behind a son, a daughter and wife and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
"My father was admitted to the hospital with lung infection last month," said journalist Shanta Maria, daughter of Takiullah. His body will be taken to Communist Party office around 4pm this afternoon and his Namaj-e-Janaja will be held at the Dhaka University Central Mosque after Maghrib prayer.
Central committee of the CPB expressed deep shock at the demise of Takiullah, a former general secretary of Dhaka city committee of the party, and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
