Prime accused arrested in murder over betting on BPL
The prime accused has been arrested in the murder case of a private university student Nasim Ahmed Emajuddin who was stabbed to death near his house in the capital’s Badda on November 6 for trying to stop betting on the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The arrestee was identified as Asif Shikder, 21.
Ashraful Karim, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Gulshan zone) said: “Police arrested Asif from Comilla in the wee hours of Wednesday. He was lonely involved in the murder.”
On November 5, Nasim Ahmed got into an altercation and scuffled with some residents of the neighbourhood over BPL betting near his house.
After he was stabbed on November 6, Nasim walked to their building and called his mother twice before collapsing. His two brothers, who were at home on the first floor, came down and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
