Bangladeshi youth killed in BSF firing

A Bangladeshi youth was gunned down and another injured by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Burimari border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Farid Uddin, 22, son of Shamsul Haque, of Ufarmara village adjacent to Burimari border in Patgram upazila.

The injured Akkas Ali, 24, was taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.

According to the source, a patrol team of BSF opened fire at the cattle traders while they went to border pillar No. 843 for bringing cattle around 3.30 am, leaving one dead on the spot and another injured.

Major Mehedi Hasan, director of BGB battalion-61, said they sent a letter to BSF strongly protesting the incident.
