Commuters face transport shortage
People suffer immensely to go to their offices and other destinations in the capital as there are not sufficient public transport plying the streets in proportion to passengers.
Many people were seen standing on both sides of the roads, at bus stations and other stoppages owing to a lack of vehicles.
The government has halted the movement of Dhaka-bound transports from adjacent districts in order to foil the today’s rally of BNP at Suhrawary Udyan, said the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
However, BNP’s senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said: “The government has started mass arrest to foil the rally. The arrests were made mostly on Saturday night.”
He also said the government could not halt the stream of people making mass arrests and blocking roads.
The rally is scheduled to start at 2pm where BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will address the rally as chief guest.
Khaleda Zia last addressed a rally at the same venue on January 20, 2014, 15 days after the 10th parliamentary polls.
