Poet Rafiq Azad dies

Noted poet Rafiq Azad has died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in city on Saturday.

He breathed his last at the intensive care unit (ICU) of BSMMU around 2:30pm.

Earlier, he had been kept on life support as his condition was very critical, said director Brigadier General Abdul Majid bhuiyan.

Rafiq Azad was born on February 14 in 1941 at Guni village under Ghatail upazila of Tangail district.

He took part in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
