Rich tributes paid to Bangabandhu, four national leaders
Awami League and different social, cultural and political organizations today placed wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the graves of four national leaders marking the Jail Killing Day.
In the early hours of November 3, 1975, the killers of Bangabandhu stormed into Dhaka Central Jail and killed four national leaders - Tajuddin Ahmed, Syed Nazrul Islam, Captain Monsur Ali and AHM Kamruzzaman - who led the Liberation War in absence of Bangabandhu in 1971 and earned independence for the nation.
Awami League (AL) placed wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait at Dhanmondi and the graves of three national leaders at Banani graveyard in the city in the morning. Wreath was also placed at AHM Kamaruzzaman's grave in Rajshahi.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders, marking the Jail Killing Day.
On behalf of the Prime Minister, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury and Health Minister Mohammed Nasim placed a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32 this morning.
General Secretary of Awami League and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader and senior leaders placed another wreath at the portrait on behalf of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina.
Awami League Presidium Members Advocate Sahara Khatun, Dr Md Abdur Razzak, Advocate Abdul Mannan Khan, Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Dr Dipu Moni, Publicity and Publications Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud and Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap were present, among others.
Later, the AL leaders placed wreaths at the graves of August 15 martyrs and the national leaders at Banani graveyard and offered fateha. A milad mahfil and special munajat were also held there.
Same programmes were observed at Kadirganj in Rajshahi where AHM Kamaruzzaman has been buried.
Besides, Dhaka city AL, Mahila Awami League, Juba League, Sechchhasebak League, Krishak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Sramik League, Joy Bangla Sangskritik Oikya Jote, Awami Muktijoddha League, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and other social cultural and political organizations paid homage to the August 15 martyrs and four national leaders.
