No reaction of SQ on verdict

He was in the condemn cell number 30 in Gazipur jail-1 and watching Bangladesh Television while the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court delivered its verdict upholding the capital punishment for his crimes against humanity during the liberation war of the nation in 1971. BTV scroll showed the verdict to hang him till death. He saw the news calmly.

Salauddin Quader Chowdhury showed no reaction at all on his verdict, said Subrata Kumar Bala, Senior jail super of Gazipur. Bala was there at 10 am when BTV telecasted the news on its scroll and SQ saw it.

However, jail authority has not yet informed about the verdict to SQ officially. They will pronounce the verdict to him after being handed over the copy of it, he added.

The International Tribunal for crime against humanity found SQ Chowdhury guilty for his crime in 1971 and sentenced him to death in 2013. SQ appealed against the verdict, but the appellate division of the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence on Wednesday.
