Four neo-JMB militants put on remand

A Dhaka court today put four alleged members of militant outfit neo-JMB including now suspended pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Sabbir Enam on remand on different terms.

"Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Ahsan Habib put Sabbir on remand for seven days, his mother Sultana Pervin for five days, Asifur Rahman and Md Alam for six days each," Senior ASP (media) of RAB Md Mizanur Rahman Bhuian told BSS.

Earlier the investigation officer produced the four before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court and pleaded to put the accused on 10-day remand each, according to a news agency.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the accused for their suspected link to militancy and plotting sabotage from city's Darus Salam area in Mirpur on Tuesday.

The arrestees are accomplices of militant Abdullah, one of the top leaders of the Neo Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), who was killed in a recent RAB assault at militant den in Darus Salam area, said RAB.

Meanwhile, Biman Bangladesh Airlines General Manager (PR) Shakil Meraj told BSS that the national flag carrier had suspended Sabbir Enam yesterday right after his arrest over militancy link.
