Doctors stop services at outpatient depts of DMCH

Doctors of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday morning went for work abstention at outpatient departments following an alleged attack on some doctors by the angry relatives of a patient who died at the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

The doctors stopped their services around 9am that led to intense suffering of patients. Dozens of patients were seen waiting anxiously on the hospital premises to visit doctors.

Earlier, on Sunday last, the services at the emergency department of the DMCH had been suspended more than three hours following an attack on some doctors by the angry relatives of a patient who died at the hospital.

The relatives alleged the doctor’s wrong treatment as the cause of the patient’s death, they also vandalized the hospital.

The patient, Nawshed Ahmed, 52, passed away at the coronary care unit (CCU) around 1pm, Azmeri Ahmed, the deceased’s wife informed reporters and alleged that her husband died of wrong treatment.
