Girl burnt to death for ‘stealing mobile phone’

A 14-year old girl was burnt to death for alleged involvement in stealing a mobile phone from her aunty at Shibpur Upazila in Narsingdi.

The deceased Aziza Khatun, daughter of Abdus Sattar, died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) early Saturday.

Aziza’s aunty Beauty lost her mobile phone few days ago. After the incident, Beauty warned to burn Aziza suspecting that Aziza stole her phone, said Abdus Sattar.

Some miscreants entered into the house at night when Aziza was alone at home and set fire on her body, he added.

Later, her family members rushed her to DMCH in critical condition where the doctors declared her dead.

In this connection, Abdus Sattar told Jagonews24.com that it’s a pre-planned murder. I informed the matter to the police station.

Syed-Ud-Zaman, officer-in-charge of Shibpur Police Station, said we were informed the matter but didn’t get any written complaint.
