2 murder case accused killed in ‘gunfight’

Two accused of double murder case were killed and another one sustained bullet-hit in ‘gunfight’ with Detective Branch of Police at Nagoriokandi in Narsingdi district early on Thursday.

The deceased are Jahirul Islam, 25, and Rakib, 24. Another accused, M Hossain, 22, who received bullet-hit in the incident.

A pistol, two rounds of bullets and a machete have been recovered from their possession.

According to source, Detective Branch of Police conducted a drive to arrest the double murder accused. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the perpetrators fired at them. Law enforcers also retaliated to them for self-defense. At one stage, the accused fled the scene.

Later, Detectives rescued bullet-hit Jahirul, Rakib and M Hossain. Jahirul was declared dead while they were taken to District Sadar Hospital.

Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Detectives, confirmed the incident.
