Weather likely to improve by Sunday morning

The unremitting rain, triggered by a depression in the Bay, is likely to stop by Sunday morning and the overall weather situation may improve by this time, a met office official said this on Saturday morning, reports BSS.

"The non-stop rain will decrease by today's evening. But it will take time for a better weather till tomorrow morning," said Abdul Mannan, a Meteorologists at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

He said, "We forecast light to moderate rain with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at many places over the country for the next 24 hours ending at 9 am tomorrow and advised the maritime ports - Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra - to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three".

The country's all river ports have been asked to be hoisted riverine warning signal number two so that the water ways passengers can journey with a caution, Mannan added.

The meteorologists also said all fishing boat and trawler over North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.

"The land depression over Gangetic west Bengal and adjoining Odisha and southwestern part of Bangladesh moved north-northeastwards and was centered at 9 am today over west Bengal-Western part of Bangladesh (near lat 23.8on and long 88.5oe)," said a BMD weather bulletin this morning.

It is likely to move in a north or northeasterly direction further and weaken gradually, the bulletin said, adding that under its influence, steep pressure gradient persists and deep convection is continuing over North Bay.

Under the influence of the land depression, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Bhola, Barisal, Patuakhali, Jhalokathi, Pirozpur, Borguna, Bagherhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely
to be inundated by the wind driven surge of 1-2 feet height above normal astronomical tide, the bulletin said.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country's maximum temperature was recorded 31.5 degree celsius yesterday at Nikli in Dhaka division and today's minimum temperature 22.0 degree celsius at Rangpur.

Country's highest rainfall in last twenty-four hours ending at 6 am today was recorded 271 millimeters (mm) at Gopalgonj in Dhaka division.

The sun sets at 5:27 pm today and rises at 5:59 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
