Patuakhali ‘gunfight’ kills 1

A man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Hetalia Badghat area of the Patuakhali district early on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Golam Moula Mridha (35).

Arms, bullets and yaba have been recovered from his possession during this time.

RAB-8 Company Commander Fazlur Rahman said they raided an area beside the Kuakata-Patuakhali Highway on reports that a group of armed men numbering 10/12 was holed out in the area.

The armed men opened fire sensing RAB’s presence, which forced them to retaliate, leaving Mirdha dead on the spot, said the RAB official.
