Law ministry signs LIA agreement with IFC

Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry today signed an agreement titled Legislative Impact Assessment (LIA) with International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Aimed at formulating high standard law in the country, LIA would become handy in enacting law considering the advantages and disadvantages for the citizens before and during the formulation of the concerned act.

Joint secretary Sayed Ahmed of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division and IFC acting country manager Ehsanul Azim signed the agreement for their respective organizations in presence of Law Minister Anisul Huq at Hotel Sonargaon.

Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Senior Secretary Mohammad Shahidul Haque, Law Secretary Abu Saleh Sk Md Zahirul Haque and IFC senior economist Dr Masrur Riyaj were present on the occasion, among others.

“We the people in the government are public servants. It is not enough for us just to formulate laws. We have to make efforts how to implement those laws for the welfare of the people,” Law Minister Anisul Huq said.

The minister emphasized on formulating perfect laws so that time does not get wasted in correcting the flaws in those laws.
