Maritime ports Of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three as a deep convection is taking place over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

“A low has developed over Northwest Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal. Under its influence deep convection is taking place over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh,” said a warning message issued by met office this afternoon here.

Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, the message added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, it said.

In association with rain or thundershowers, temporary south or south-easterly squalls speeding 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar wherein river ports shall hoist riverine warning signal number two by 1 am tomorrow, said another warning message.

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or south-easterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one, it added.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions, at a few places over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country in the next 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow, said a met office press release.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 34.5 degree Celsius at Tetulia in Rangpur division and today’s minimum temperature 24.0 degree celsius at Rangamati in Chittagong division.

Country’s highest rainfall in last twenty-four hours ending at 6 am today was recorded 92 millimeters (mm) at Khepupara in Barisal division.

The sun sets at 5:39 pm today and rises at 5:53 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
