PM to open 18 bridges Thursday

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate some eighteen newly constructed bridges from Ganobhaban through video conferencing on Thursday.

Earlier, Sheikh Russel Bridge was opened to traffic on Patuakhali-Kuakata road.

The 500-metre long Sheikh Jamal Bridge was constructed at a cost of Tk 43.5 crore and the 900-metre Sheikh Kamal Bridge involving Tk 65 crore.

The 16 other bridges were constructed on Sylhet-Sunamganj and Sylhet-Jakiganj roads under the Eastern Bangladesh Bridge Improvement Project at a cost of Tk 268 crore.

Of these, 11 were on Sylhet-Sunamganj road while the rest five on Sylhet-Jakiganj road.
