Quasem’s appeal verdict March 8
The Supreme Court has scheduled March 8 to deliver the verdict on an appeal filed by war crimes accused and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali against the death sentence awarded to him for war crimes committed in 1971.
After concluding the appeal hearing of the death-row war criminal, a five-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha fixed the date on Wednesday.
Though the Appellate Division primarily fixed March 2 for delivering the verdict, It was changed as Chief Justice would go out of capital on visit on the day.
The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on November 2, 2014 sentenced Quasem to death after it found him guilty on 10 charges of abducting, confining and torturing people during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
