Asha University students block City Street
The students of Asha University Bangladesh blocked Mirpur Road in front of their university in the city for about one and a half hours on Tuesday morning protesting the death of a student in a road accident on Monday.
Protesting the incident, some students of the university put on a barricade in front of their university at Shyamoli around 12:30 pm, halting the vehicular movement from College Gate to Shyamoli Cinema Hall areas.
Later, around 2pm the students withdrew their barricade after some university teachers assured them of taking proper steps in the connection.
Ashraful Islam Tapu, 24, a 2nd year student of the university’s Business Studies Faculty, was killed as a police requisitioned minibus hit his motorcycle in the city’s Banani area around 3:45 on Monday.
Police took him to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors declared Tapu dead.
