Police man shot dead by colleague

A police constable was killed by a bullet accidentally fired from his colleague’s gun in Sukhi Nilganj area of Rangamati district on Saturday.

The deceased is Purno Barua, son of Shekhar Barua, of village Purbagujra under the Raojan upazila in the district.

According to police, Purno Barua and Sourov Barua were on duty at Nilganj police lines on Saturday.

In the afternoon, a bullet came out suddenly from Sourov`s gun and hit Purno.

Purno was rushed to Rangamati Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead.

After incident Sourov Barua was also admitted to the hospital as he feeling sick.

Hearing the news, Deputy Commissioner Md. Samsul Arefeen and Police Superintendent Md. Syed Tarikul Hasan rushed to the hospital to see them.

Police Superintendent Md. Syed Tarikul Hasan said a three members committee was formed in this connection.

The committee was asked to provide the prove report within seven days. Necessary measure will be taken after getting the prove report, he added.
