PM hands over Ekushey Padak
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the Ekushey Padak 2016 to sixteen noted personalities in recognition of their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.
The Ekushey Padak award giving ceremony program was held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday morning.
The recipients are: Justice Kazi Ebadul Haque, Dr Sayed Haider, late Syed Golam Kibria (posthumous), Dr Jashimuddin Ahmed for their contribution to the Language Movement, Begum Jahanara Ahmed (arts - television and film), Pandit Amaresh Roy Chowdhury (arts -classical music), Begum Shaheen Samad (arts - Music), Amanul Haque (arts -dance), late Kazi Anwar Hossain (arts -painting) [posthumous], Mafidul Haque for contribution to the Liberation War and Toab Khan in journalism.
The recipients also include Prof Dr ABM Abdullah in research, Mongsen Ching Monsin (research), Jyotiprakash Dutt (language and literature), Prof Dr Hayat Mahmud (language and literature) and Habibullah Siraji (language and literature),
It is mentionable that, on 10 February, Ministry of Cultural affairs issued a press release mentioning the names of the Ekushey Padak awardees signed by the ministry’s assistant secretary Mohammad Ziauddin Bhuiyan.
