HC orders compensation for Jihad’s family
The High Court (HC) has ordered the government to pay compensation to the family of Jihad, who died after falling into an abandoned well in the capital.
The bench of Justice Kazi Mohammad Ejarul Haque and Justice Farah Mahbub passed the order after disposing of a writ petition on Thursday afternoon.
Children’s Charity Bangladesh Foundation submitted the petition on December 28 seeking the court’s directives on providing the victim’s family Tk30 lakh as compensation.
In this connection lawyer Barrister Abdul Halim said the amount of compensation and who would liable for it can be only known after the court publishes the full verdict.
On December 26, 2014, the four-year-old boy was killed after falling into an unprotected pipe hole dug by railway authorities at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony.
