Arrest warrant issued against SI Ratan

A Dhaka tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against Ratan Kumar, a Sub Inspector of Adabor police station in a case filed for sexually harassing a female student of a private university in the capital.

After taking the probe report of the case into cognizance on Wednesday, Dhaka Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal 4 Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed passed the order on Tuesday.

Earlier, SI was suspended on January 31, and police formed a two-member body to probe the allegations.

SI Ratan, along with two constables, intercepted the woman, a student of ASA University, near Japan Garden City in the capital. 

After forcing her to get down from the rickshaw, the SI took the woman to a nearby shop where he claimed that the victim was a drug peddler and had 200 Yaba tablets on her.
