Suspected dacoit killed in ‘gunfight’

A suspected dacoit was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Baddapara area under Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

The deceased is Roton, 30, of Chunta village and an enlisted robber.

Five others police members were injured and admitted to local hospital.

A pipe gun, four machetes and some lethal weapons were found from the spot, it is learnt.

Officer-in-charge of Sarail Police Station Ali Arshad said a gang of robbers was preparing to commit robbery when a patrol of police noticed them around 4:30 am Sunday.

Noticing the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire targeting the police officials.

In reply, police fired back that left Roton dead while the others fled the scene.

Roton was an accused of six cases filed with the police station, he added.
