Biggest Eid Jamaat held at Sholakia amid unprecedented security
The country's largest Jamaat of Eid-ul-Azha was held at the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan with participation of over thousands of devotees amid unprecedented security measures.
The 190th Jamaat of this year was held at 9 this morning following the custom of opening blank fire. Khatib of Shamsuddin Bhuiyan Jame Mosque Mufti Hibzur Rahman conducted the prayer, reports BSS.
A special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for peace, development and welfare of the people of the country as well as the Muslim Ummah.
Two special trains named 'Sholakia Special' carried the devotees on Bhairav-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj routes.
The government has taken unprecedented security measures for the country's largest Eidgah Sholakia Maidan with deployment of three platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police.
"The Eid Jamaat was held in a peaceful manner with participation of hundreds of thousands of devotees as we have brought the Sholakia Eidgah under unprecedented security arrangement," Md Anwar Hossain, superintendent of police in Kishoreganj, told BSS this morning.
Plain clothed personnel from different intelligence agencies have been entrusted with strict vigilance in and around Sholakia, he also said.
Closed Circuit Camera Television (CCTVs) and watch towers have been set up at each of the entry points of Kishoreganj town and the Sholakia Eidgah to make the security foolproof.
