President offers Eid-ul-Azha prayers at National Eidgah

President M Abdul Hamid offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers along with hundreds of people from all walks of life at the National Eidgah in the capital this morning.

Cabinet members, judges of the Supreme Court, lawmakers, senior political leaders and high civil and military officials also offered prayers at the main Eid jamaat (congregation) held at 8 am, BSS reported.

Senior Pesh Imam of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Maulana Mizanur Rahman conducted the Eid prayers.

A special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for the peace and progress of Bangladesh and welfare of the people as well as Muslim ummah.

Doa was also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of country's founding Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his other family members who were brutally killed on August 15, 1975.

Besides, doa was also offered for the people who embraced martyrdom in different times for the sake of country and establishing democracy.

After the prayers, President Hamid exchanged Eid greetings with the devotees.

The Eid Jamaat was held under the auspices of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) amid intensified security vigilance in and around of the Eidgah adjacent to the High Court.

Earlier, on his arrival at the Eidgah, the President was received by DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon.
