Main Eid congregation to be held at Jatiya Eidgah

The main Eid congregation will be held at Jatiya Eidgah at 8am on Saturday though there is a prediction of inclement weather with heavy rainfall, said Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon here today.

“If the weather further deteriorates, the main Eid congregation will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:30 am instead of 8am,” he said.

Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon said this after overseeing the preparation of Eid Jamaat.

About one lakh people, including 5,000 women devotees, will participate in the Eid congregation, he said, adding that arrangements for carrying out ablution (waju) and mobile toilets have been made for the devotees on the premise of Eidgah.

Even separate arrangement has been made for the women devotees as they can perform namaj at Eidgah ground.

Adequate security arrangements also have been taken by the law enforcing agencies. The entire area has been brought under the surveillance of close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

DNCC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Khan Mohammad Bilal accompanied the mayor during the visit.
