4 workers die in B’baria roof collapse

At least four workers were killed and three others injured as the roof of an under-construction refueling station collapsed on them in Bahadurpur area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway under Ashuganj upazila of the district today, BSS reported.

The victims are Mijan Miah, of Terakanda Sarail, Najmul and Dulal Miah, residents of Jatrapur Ashuganj Abu Sayed, of Sadekpur in Sadar upazila.

Police said the roof of the petrol pump suddenly collapsed on them when the workers were working there at about 2 pm. Local people and a team of fire service retrieved the four bodies from the rubble of the collapsed roof.

The bodies were sent to Sadar hospital morgue while the injured were admitted to a local hospital.

Ashuganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amirul Kaiser confirmed the matter and said the district administration gave Taka 20,000 each of the deceased families.
