BGB sends back 146 Rohingyas to Myanmar

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today sent back 146 Rohingyas who entered Bangladesh crossing the Naf river in the wake of fresh tensions between the insurgents and Myanmar security forces.

“The 146 Rohingyas captured after intrusion have been sent back to Myanmar after providing primary care,” BGB Teknaf Battalion-2 deputy commander Major Sariful Islam Jomaddar told newsmen.

He said the Rohingyas of Myanmar started intruding into Bangladesh after security forces were deployed in the Rakhine state in Myanmar on Thursday.

Sariful Islam said surveillance of BGB members has been intensified at different border points to avert the intrusion.
