Rail link with northern and southern districts resumed

Rail communications with the northern and southern districts of the country have been resumed on Monday afternoon, confirmed officials of Bangladesh Railway.

All trains services to northern and south-western parts of the country were suspended on Sunday as a railway bridge was partly damaged in Kalihati upazila of Tangail due to the onrush of floodwater.

A portion of the bridge was collapsed on Sunday as soon as Dhaka-bound Sundarban Express crossed the area, said the official.

A task force of around 300 people, including two units of fire service, worked relentlessly since yesterday.
