16 selected for Ekushey Padak

Sixteen prominent individuals have been selected with the Ekushey Padak, one of the country’s highest civilian awards.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Wednesday announced the names of 16 personalities for the honour.

Journalist Toab Khan, writer Hayat Mahmud, singer Shaheen Samad and retired Supreme Court judge Justice Kazi Ebadul Haque are among those selected.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to hand over the awards to the awardees at a ceremony to be held at the capital’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium on February 20.
