Journalists hold ‘protest rally’ for 9th wage board

Journalists today staged a protest rally, covering faces with black cloth, to press home their demand for formation of the 9th wage board for the media people.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) jointly organized the rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club at 11 am, BSS reported.

BFUJ Secretary General Omar Faruque, former secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, BFUJ Joint Secretary General Amiya Ghotok Pulak, DUJ General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) President Shakhawat Hossain Badsha and General Secretary Mursalin Nomani, spoke, among others, at the rally with DUJ President Shaban Mahmood in the chair.

The rally was informed that BFUJ will organize a press conference on August 22 to declare the next programme of movement for the 9th wage board.

Omar Faruque said new programmes would be given to launch a tough movement across the country, if the declaration of the ninth wage board is not made soon.
