Man held with 9 gold bars at Dhaka Airport
Customs Intelligence recovered nine gold bars after the carrier of the consignment released those through his stool passage at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early on Wednesday in capital.
The gold bars were kept concealed inside the stomach of the carrier, identified as Roman Talukdar, 35, who arrived at the airport by a flight of Bangladesh Biman Airlines from Kuala Lumpur around 6pm on Tuesday.
According to source, officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) suspiciously challenged Roman when he was about to leave the airport through the green channel on Tuesday evening.
CIID’s director general Dr Moinul Khan said that, after screening Roman through Archway, the customs intelligence officials suspected that metal-likes object were kept hidden inside his abdomen, as he denied to have such metal inside the stomach.
The CIID officials took Roman to a local clinic and detected presence of gold bars inside through x-ray, the CIID’ he added.
