2 killed in clashes over Habiganj mosque committee

Two villagers have been killed and at least fifty others injured in clashes over the formation of a local mosque committee in Habiganj early Saturday.

The deceased are Matin Miah, 50, and Kabir Akhanji, son of Sabu Miah, both of whom are village residents.

The injured men were sent to Bahubal Upazila Health Complex.

According to source, there was a dispute between two groups of the village over the committee formation of a mosque and changing its imam.

The two sides fought on Friday after Jummah prayers and resumed clashes on Saturday.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of Bahubal-Nabiganj circle Raselur Rahman.
