Free medical services in hospitals on Nat’l Mourning Day

Medical services will be rendered free of cost in all the public hospitals across the country from 9 am to 12 noon on the National Mourning Day on August 15 commemorating the 42nd anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports BSS.

The patients will be provided also with blood test, diabetes, blood pressure and other medical examinations along with medical services free of cost during the period.

The decision was taken at a meeting on the programmes of the National Mourning Day at the Conference Room of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry yesterday with Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim in the chair.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, Secretary of Health Service Division Sirajul Haque Khan, Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Sirajul Islam, Director General of Directorate General Health Service Prof Abul Kalam Azad, among others, were present at the meeting.

On the behalf of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry, floral wreaths will be placed at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi at 11 am on the National Mourning Day on August 15.

Besides, decision also was adopted at the meeting that discussions and milad mahfils will be organised at all upazila and district level public hospitals to mark the Day.

On the day, doctors, nurses, officers and employees will wear black badges as a mark of respect to the martyrs of the August 15 carnage of 1975.
