Trial of Mahfuz Anam demanded

Some members of the Parliament on Sunday demanded trial of The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam and ban on the Daily Star Newspaper in the Jatiya Sangshad.

Some MPs raised the issue taking floor on point of order after Magrib recess.

Awami League MP Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh raised the issue first and then Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon, Jasod MP Moin Uddin Khan Badal, AL MPs Shamsul Haque Tuku, Independent MP Haji Md Selim and Tahjib Alam Siddiqui joined the discussion.

Earlier on Wednesday Mahfuz Anam on a TV talk show said that he made a "big mistake" by running "corruption" stories based on information provided by the DGFI during the 2007-2008 caretaker regime.
