Govt. has plan to operate Dhaka-New York flight: Menon

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Sunday said, the government has a plan to operate flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on the New York route from the winter schedule of 2016.

He said this while replying a question from Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The minister said presently operating Biman`s flight on the New York route is not possible as the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) is under category-II of safety audit of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), USA.

A necessary programme for improving the CAAB to the category-I have been undertaken by the government, he added.
