BFUJ demands 9th wage board

Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) on Saturday demanded immediate formation of the ninth Wage Board for enhancement of salary scales for journalists and other workers of the newspaper industry.

The government should take immediate steps for announcement of the ninth Wage Board, they told a meeting of the executive committee of BFUJ here, a BFUJ press release said.

The journalist leaders called for forging a unity overcoming all sorts of divisions to maintain professional dignity and uphold their rights.

General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club(JPC) Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, BFUJ Secretary General Syed Mesbah Uddin, President of Dhaka Union of Journalists(DUJ) Elahi Newaz Khan, General Secretary Khairul Alam Bakul, Vice President of JPC Amirul Islam Kagoji, former general secretary of DUJ Sardar Farid, among others, addressed the meeting with BFUJ President Golam Mohiuddin Khan in the chair.
