Conjoined twins separated at DMCH

The conjoined twins -Toufa and Tahura- have been separated after an operation at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday.

The operation started at around 8 am and took several hours to separate them, DMCH paediatric surgery department’s head Ashraful Haq Kazol told The Jago News.

A medical team of DMCH comprised of doctors from different departments including Anesthesia, Burn and Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology, Radiology and Imaging conducted the operation.

The twins, joined at the waist, shared rectum and urinary passage, were born in Gaibandha.
