Resist terrorism, militancy to protect future generations: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon all including the public servants to put up strong resistance against terrorism, militancy and drug addiction to save the future generations from these evil activities, reports BSS.

“Corruption will have to be rooted out from the society at any cost and the future generations will have to be protected by building resistance against terrorism, militancy and drug addiction,” she told the Bangladesh Administrative Services Association (BASA) Annual Conference-2017 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) here on Thursday night.

Stating that the main responsibilities of the public servants is to serve the people, the prime minister also sought sincere cooperation of the public servants to implement her government’s Vision-2021 and Vision-2041 to build a prosperous and developed Bangladesh.

“Let’s build a happy, prosperous and developed Bangladesh by materialising Vision-2021 and 2041 together,” she said.

Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam and State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique were present at the function as the special guests.

Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam and BASA Vice-President Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury spoke on the occasion, while BASA Secretary General Kabir Bin Anwar gave welcome speech at the function.

Reminding the public servants that every citizen has a right to get quick government services without any harassment, the prime minister said that the public servants will have to stay alert so that development is made from the grassroots to the centre.

“We want to build Bangladesh as poverty and beggar-free country and we want to build society through balanced development meaning removing income disparity,” she said.

The prime minister said the salary of the public servants comes from the hard-earned money of the common people. “So keeping this in mind, the public servants will have to work for ensuring the welfare of the ultra poor and grassroots rural people,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina said her government’s wants that there won’t be a single homeless in the country. “I hope that the public servants will give due attention for arrangements of housing of the homeless people and their employment,” she said.
