OC withdrawn over tea seller’s death

AKM Shahin Mondol, officer-in-Charge of Shah Ali police station was withdrawn over the death of a burnt tea seller in the capital’s Mirpur area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commission (media), Maruf Hossain Sarder, confirmed this to Journalist on Friday afternoon.

Earlier on Thursday four cops of Mirpur Shah Ali police station have also been withdrawn over the death of the burnt tea seller in the capital’s Mirpur area.

The deceased’s son had told media his father used to sell tea at the Gudara Ghat area of Shah Ali, Mirpur.

Five policemen demanded toll from him on Wednesday night. As he refused to give money, some of the cops hit the shop’s kerosene stove with a stick and it caused his father burnt on site.

Later on, burnt Babul was taken to the DMCH burn unit where he died on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a two-member investigation committee has been formed headed by Mirpur zone police’s Deputy Commissioner Masud Ahmed.

The deceased’s family filed written complaint to the Mirpur zone’s DC Kaimuzzaman in this connection.
