4 killed as landslides hit Cox’s Bazar
At least four people including two children were killed in separate landslides due to heavy rain as they slept in Cox’s Bazar at 4am on Tuesday.
Two siblings were killed in landslide in Ramu Upazila while two men killed in Light House area of the district, said Abdul Malek, Deputy Assistant Director of Cox’s Bazar fire brigade.
In Ramu, two siblings - Saima, 5, and Jihan, 7, were asleep when a huge chunk of mud collapsed on their house at Chainda area.
Their parents-Jiaur Rahman and Anarkoli-were recovered in a critical condition. They were rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
In light house area of the district, two people were killed and two others injured.
The deceased are Mohammad Shahed, 18 and Saddam Hosen, 28.
Apart from Delwar Hosen, 25 and Arafat, 30, were recovered in a critical condition and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
